Mauna Loa volcano spews lava, gas and ash into sky as eruption continues

The world’s largest active volcano, Hawaii’s Mauna Loa, could be seen spewing gas, ash and lava into the sky in new video captured on Wednesday. The volcano first began erupting on November 27, at about 11:30 p.m. local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Rising to a height of more than 4 km (13,100 ft) above sea level, Mauna Loa is the largest active volcano on earth and is located on the south-central part of the island of Hawaii. The volcano previously erupted in March and April of 1984.
