New Water Device (1969)

No titles. Aqueon Inner-Space vehicle for swimmers. Ripon, North Yorkshire. Various shots of the new Aqueon Inner-Space vehicle being demonstrated at Ripon Baths. Girls in swimsuits stand beside the baths, and have this contraption fitted to their legs. It seems to consist of two horizontal flippers, one at the feet and one at the stomach. The lower part of the contraption is bolted from back to front between the lower legs. Several shots of the girls swimming in the pool with the devices - as they flip their legs and feet, mermaid-style, because their legs must be kept together, the upper flipper moves in and out near their stomachs and propels them along at great speed. Underwater shots show the girls swimming along wearing snorkels. Apparently, speeds of 6 miles an hour are possible with this gadget. The upper flipper seems to be knocking some of them in the stomach as they swim along like fish. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV
