India Acclaims Prince Philip (1959)

Titles read: “DELHI - INDIA ACCLAIMS PRINCE PHILIP“. Indian Prime Minister Pandit Nehru and Mayor of Delhi Mrs Asaf Ali wait for the arrival of the Duke of Edinburgh at Palam Air Force Station. The Duke (Prince Philip) walks down steps from Comet plane and shakes hands with Mr Nehru and Mrs Asaf Ali who puts a garland of flowers round the Duke. More people give him garlands. Crowds surround the Duke - he refuses more garlands! Mounted police clear excited crowds. The Duke sits in back of open car with Nehru, driving past cheering crowds on way to the President’s house. The procession approaches the President’s house. C/U of gates of President’s house, pan to stone elephants fixed on main entrance. (they still bear the British insignia).
