UK: Banksy’s “Love is in the bin“ auctioned for record £16m

Mandatory credit: Sotheby’s The famous ’Love is in the bin’ image by artist Banksy sold for £16m (€18.9 million) at an auction at Sotheby’s in London on Thursday. ’Love is in the bin’ is the remains of Banksy’s ’Girl with Balloon’ piece, which was partly shredded in a surprising live self-destruction act at the same auction room during in 2018. The price exceeded almost four times the guide’s £4-6million rate. The private acquisitor will pay a total of £18.5 million including the buyer’s bonus.
