Trial begins over NZ White Island volcanic eruption

Several defendants will face Auckland District Court as a lengthy trial begins on charges related to the Whakaari/White Island disaster. WorkSafe New Zealand has accused parties of safety breaches and duty failures over the volcanic eruption that left 22 people dead including 14 Australians.
