Astronaut Charlie Walker, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, August 18, 2012

On August 18, 2012, retired astronaut Charlie Walker appeared in the Astronaut Encounter at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Commercial industry’s first astronaut, Walker flew on three Space Shuttle missions -- STS-41D in 1984, STS-51D in 1985 and STS-61B in 1985. Walker flew on those missions as a Payload Specialist representing McDonnell-Douglas. He designed their Electrophoresis Operations in Space experiment. He trained four Shuttle crews to perform the experiment, then performed it himself
