Nazem Kadri, 1st Muslim NHL player to win Stanley Cup, brings it home to London mosque

Nazem Kadri, the first Muslim NHL player ever to win the Stanley Cup, made history on Saturday as he brought the trophy to the London, Ont. mosque where he attended prayers growing up. It was a big moment for the city of London and the Muslim community, a year after four of five members of the Afzaal family were killed in a terror attack. The mosque’s imam, Munir El-Kassem, said they were going “from that chapter of tragedy to a chapter of ease.“ Ahmar Khan spoke with Kadri about what this moment means for him and has more details on what his family thinks about their champion.
