Flood sweeps everything away in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Heavy rain that fell in the north of Fluminense caused great damage to the towns of Campos dos Goitacases, where a dam on the river bank collapsed; and also in Macae, where a huge sinkhole formed on a residential street. Two municipalities have recorded precipitation indices above 50 millimeters over the past few hours, indicating moderate to heavy rain. Campos City Hall said the dam failure was caused by a subsidence of a culvert that would not have been able to handle the volume of water generated by the rain. Civil defense teams are working on the avenue, and the Civil Guard has already been called in to block the section and the Barcelos Martins bridge. Naturals hazards in 2021 have become more frequent.
