The Supervolcano in New Mexico; The Emory Caldera

Within the United States is a massive but hidden supervolcano. Although it is extinct, its eruptions were responsible for the creation of unusual geologic formation which can be found northeast of Deming in New Mexico. The supervolcano I am referring to is called the Emory Caldera, which produced an eruption 1000 times larger than the 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens. Today, a section of ash deposits produced by its cataclysmic eruption is protected as part of the City of Rocks State Park. This video will discuss this fascinating volcanic system, and state how it formed. A special thanks to the Extreme Pursuit YouTube channel for granting me permission to use clips of his footage!
