Samuel Johnson Prize winner and best-seller, Wade Davis’ “Into the Silence: The Great War, Mallory, and the Conquest of Everest,“ is a meticulous, 12-year labour of love, blending history and adventure. It examines the global race to conquer the ’Third Pole’ in the years following the First World War. An ethnobotanist past National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence, Davis is a scientist, scholar, poet and defender of nature. He now teaches at the University of British Columbia.
