Handel v Scarlatti - God Rot Tunbridge Wells

Scene from the movie in which Handel is invited to take part in a competition with the famous composer Domenico Scarlatti. They both along with Bach were born in the same year of 1685. The scene is based on a real event when both composers were aged 23, both being judged equal on the Harpsichord while Handel adjudged the winner on the Organ. Both had enormous mutual respect for each other and it is said that Scarlatti, later in life, was known to cross himself in veneration when speaking of Handel’s skill
