On The Trail: Devils Point & The Lairig Ghru - Winter in the Cairngorm Mountains, Scotland

Winter hiking trip in the Cairngorm Mountains, Scotland. I started this hiking trip just outside of Braemar at Invercauld estate. I headed west towards Mar estate then turning right into Glen Quoich. I cut left out of Glen Quoich through Clais Fhearnaig and over to Glen Lui and headed for Bob Scott’s bothy where I set up camp nearby Derry Lodge. The next morning I woke up early and set out at 3am to make my way through the rest of the night/morning to enter the Lairig Ghru and arrive at Corrour Bothy. This is where I started my ascent of the steep icy climb up to Devil’s Point. After Devil point, I have a quick rest and set back out on the trail again. Instead of heading back the way I came to Braemar I decided to carry on heading north through the Lairig Ghru and pass the Pools of Dee. Once here it was downhill all the way, hiking through Rothiemurchus to reach my extraction point at Aviemore train station. This was the longest hike I have ever done as I was on the go hiking for just over
