Luc Besson (d. 18 March 1959, Paris) is a French film director, producer and screenwriter.
Started as an assistant to the directors P. Granpere, M. Piala, K. Faraldo. The first full-length film - a post-apocalyptic parable «Last Fight» - was shot in 1983 (together with P. Jolyva).
The most vivid embodiment of his creativity was the film «Fifth Element» (1997).
In 1999 he directed the historical film «Messenger: The Story of Jeanne d’Arc».
Engaged in production activities, having established the company «Europa Corp» in 2000.
