Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction2 Genesis 27:8 Now, my son, listen carefully and do what I tell you. as we study that account of Isaac Rebecca Jacob and Esau we see an instance in Scripture where a wife a mother does a very terrible thing to one of her son’s. and this is one of the main reasons why God expressly prohibits showing favoritism. The reason why favoritism was shown in our select scriptures was because in this great family each of the parents had favorite children Isaac’s favorite son the Esau Rebecca’s favorite son was Jacob. When we have favorites and show favoritism we give an unfair advantage to one group over another this may seem all unwell and good as long as you are the group that the advantages are favoring but when you are the group as blacks are in America or as other minorities are in different places around the world it does not feel good to those that are like you who are being held back and kept down because of favoritism shown toward others.
