Tom Bawcock’s Eve

Tom Bawcock’s Eve every 23rd December in Mousehole, Cornwall, celebrates the story of the legendary fisherman who saved the town from starvation when he landed ’seven sorts of fish’ as the song goes. The famed Star Gazey pie is baked with fish ’swimming’ through the pastry crust and given out for free in the Ship Inn. Local children have a lantern procession and Mousehole male voice choir sing the traditional song on the harbourside. Nice. A merry place you may believe, Was Mouzel ’pon Tom Bawcock’s Eve.
