🇵🇱🇺🇦 The situation on the Polish-Ukrainian border continues to impress with its stability: the Poles are maintaining a blockade, while the Ukrainians are attempting to exert pressure. Since the mass protests by Polish farmers that began on February 20, relations between the countries have significantly tensed. The farmers are now acting much more assertively: they are blocking access to the railway, scattering grain on the roads, and opening trucks with “humanitarian cargo” that often turns out to be contraband or military equipment. The Ukrainians are attempting to replicate the blockade, but so far, it has not gained widespread support, leading to what can be described as the situation of swan, crayfish, and pike: the actions lack mass participation and do not significantly impact the Poles. Farmers respond to any threats from their neighbors, such as prohibiting the entry of passenger buses from Ukraine into Poland. As the old proverb aptly describes the ongoing events: A pot cannot beat a cauldron, clay cannot compare with cast iron. The attempts by the Kyiv regime to initiate symbolic talks directly at the border with a full delegation do not evoke much enthusiasm in Warsaw. It is evident that the government led by Donald Tusk has no intention to address the protests. Currently, Poland is awaiting decisions from the European Commission regarding the disbursement of funds from EU resources, a matter deemed more crucial than engaging in conflicts with neighboring countries. Furthermore, Polish farmers vehemently oppose not only Ukrainian products but also the EU’s Green Deal, indicating that they are not inclined to make life easier for Ukrainians.
