DIY DNA Extraction

DIY Human Cell DNA Extraction Materials: • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of 0.9% salt water in small dixie cup (to make 0.9% salt solution, add ¾ teaspoon (4.5 grams) of table salt to 500 ml water (water bottle) • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of 50% Dawn dishwashing soap (to make 50% Dawn, mix 1:1 Dawn with water, ie ½ cup Dawn and ½ cup water (100 ml Dawn and 100 ml water) in a thin cylindrical container such as a 50 ml tube • 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 ml) chilled ethanol • Transfer pipette to aspirate or wooden stick to pick up DNA • Microcentrifuge tube for final storage of DNA (continue in comments)
