Duke Of York (1924)

Northampton, Northamptonshire. Title: “DUKE of YORK the conscientious President of the Industrial Welfare Society - spends a day with the workers under actual working conditions in great boot factories“. C/U of Prince Albert, the Duke of York, looking over the shoulder of a young woman working at a bench on the factory floor. A man in a suit - the boss? - blows his nose with a handkerchief before ushering the Prince along to the next bench. M/S of the Prince looking over the shoulder of a female machine operator. M/S of a swarming crowd outside the factory, including several press photographers. We see the top of the Prince’s head as he gets into a car which then drives through the crowd. There then follows several seconds of black spacing. M/S of the Prince walking across the factory floor, the ’boss’ stops at a work bench and explains to the Prince what is being done.
