Happy Holiday-Time By The Sea (1926)

Full title reads: “Happy Holiday-time by the sea. At Clacton - revellers produce ’The Pirates of the Southern Seas’.“ Clacton-on-sea, Essex, Lowestoft, Suffolk and Dover, Kent. Panning M/S of man paddling in sea operating a movie camera on tripod. He is filming people dressed in grass skirts and covered in boot polish (not very p.c.!) play-fighting in the waves. Panning L/S of crowded sea front. Lots of people sit on edge of promenade and on beach, watching the antics in the sea. M/S of the people in fancy dress and the camera. They hold fake cutlasses and pirate flags, the dance about and wave. Intertitle reads: “At Lowestoft ’King Carnival’ finds it hard to judge the prettiest ankles“. M/S of a row of young women hidding behind a long sheet, all we can see are their feet and the top of their hats. Two men both in comical period costume, one in a crown, walk down the line inspecting the women’s ankles and clowning about. Competition appears to take place on pier. Intertitle reads: “ .
