Deputation To Downing Street (1920)

Downing Street, London. March of the workers. A deputation of mayors go to No. 10. Riots of No. 10 - a row of policemen hold back swelling crowds of men in flat caps. M/S of first aid men and a policeman attending to a man injured in the riot. C/U of another protester having a head injury attended to by a first aider ( possibly a St. John’s ambulance volunteer ). Note: although there is no intertitle to verify this, these scenes correspond to pictures of striking workers rioting in Whitehall. This month saw road transport workers join the ranks of striking miners - it is possible that the Miner’s leader, J.H. Thomas could be amongst the deputation to Downing Street.
