Horse racing at Epsom, Surrey - The Derby. Intertitle reads: “Fully restored train service - innumerable char-a-bancs, motors, coaches in fact anything on - wheels, brought huge crowds to the famous downs.“ L/S of large traffic jams near the race course there are are many cars and opened top buses in the jam. The camera pans left to reveal the large crowds within the the race ground. L/S of the King George V’s carriage arriving, Queen Mary is sat next to him. the carriage passes through the crowd. Various shots of the horses and jockeys on parade before the race. Numerous shots of the horse confusingly lining up at the starting post. One horse jumps the gun and goes through the tape before it is lifted. The tape is eventually lifted and the race begins.
