George Harrison - This Song (Official Video)

’This Song’ was the first single to be released from George’s 1976 album Thirty Three & 1/3, and it peaked at in the US singles charts. It was written as a response to a recent court case where George had been sued over the supposed similarity of his song ’My Sweet Lord’ to The Chiffon’s hit ’She’s So Fine’, where George had been forced to sit and listen to incredibly detailed break downs of both songs to the point that he “started to believe that maybe they did own those notes“. The song features Billy Preston on piano and organ, and Python Eric Idle calling out “Could be ‘Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch,” “No, sounds more like ‘Rescue Me’!” This video was originally shown on the 20 November 1976 episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Paul Simon in which George was a special musical guest. See if you can spot various famous (Small) faces making cameo appearances including Ronnie Wood, drummer Jim Keltner and saxophonist Tom Scott.
