The Maharajah of Jind, Sir Ranbir Bahadur Singh, looks resplendent in pale robes and turban as he disembarks from a train to inspect the guard of honour. There’s an element of suspense - deliberate or otherwise - to this Gaumont newsreel item, which keeps us waiting for nearly 60 of its 71 seconds before allowing us a glimpse of the royal personage.
