Orthodontists will often use interproximal reduction (or “IPR“) to reshape teeth. One of the most common reasons to do IPR is due to large embrasure spaces, as show in the video. Another reason for IPR during braces is due to black triangles. These look like a space between your teeth, but they are not. It’s just a spot where your gums do not fill in, and is common in people who have more triangular teeth.
