Naruto Shippuden 167 -- What happened here?

REALLY IMPORTANT UPDATE: While I’ve always been a lover of animation, I’ve only recently started to think about it in detail as an animator does. For instance, I only learned of the of the concept of a “smear,“ which is the distortion I highlight in all these frames. It goes back to the awesome old WB cartoon “The Dover Boys“ - John Kricfalusi (creator of Ren Stimpy) has an awesome analysis of that cartoon and the use (and overuse) of smears: Considering the creator of the smear technique was Chuck Jones, and the obviously WB-style gags throughout the first half of the episode, I think its safe to say this episode’s resemblance to a Road Runner short is no coincidence.
