“Hundreds Of Doctors Are Resigning From The BMA Because Of This” | Alex Phillips | Trans Row

Doctors have quit the BMA in anger over its rejection of the Cass review on gender identity services for children, calling the decision “bonkers.“ Hundreds of members, including NHS leaders, criticised the union for opposing the review’s recommendations, claiming it has been taken over by a “vocal minority“ with ideological motives. The Cass review, led by Dr. Hillary Cass, highlighted a lack of evidence on the safety of transitioning for children. While initially accepted by the BMA, the union later formed its own group to critique the review. The conflict intensified when the BMA council decided to lobby against implementing the review’s key recommendation to stop prescribing sex hormones to young patients with gender dysphoria. Critics accused the BMA of poor leadership and ignoring members’ views.
