Armenia’s Pashinyan claims ‘convincing victory’ in snap polls

Armenia’s caretaker prime minister has claimed victory in Sunday’s snap parliamentary election. Early results show Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party is in the lead in an election with voter turnout of just under 50 percent. If the results hold, it means voters have decided not to reject Pashinyan and his reformist agenda despite anger over last year’s military defeat to Azerbaijan.
