Hexen - Gameplay [HD]

Hexen is a fantasy first person shooter made by Raven Software and published by Id Software/GT Interactive. It was released in 1995. Note:I played with the Doomsday Engine which can be downloaded here: It can be used for Doom, Heretic and Hexen. Hexen is the second part of the Serpent Rider trilogy, in Heretic 1 Corvus is hunting down D’Sparil and in Hexen the heroes are after his brother Korax. It’s basically what you can call a parallel story for Heretic. Hexen does not throw you into the shoes of one certain hero, you can actually choose from 3 available characters (Fighter, Cleric and Mage) Every character has it’s own weapons/spells and each one generally plays a bit different than the other. This ofcourse makes it an excellent coop game where 3 players could all play different characters ;) The gameplay of Hexen is for a major part of the game almost the same as Heretic with the difference that in Hexen you are not going from map to map on a linear path. Raven Software used a so called “hub system“ where you got one map in the center and all other maps are accessible from there and you have to go back and forth between them and a lot of bactracking is needed. This can make it pretty difficult to get through the game as you certainly will get lost at some point and don’t know what to do until you’ve run around for an hour :D
