Yelena Alexandrovna Bekman-Shcherbina (Russian: Елена Александровна Бекман-Щербина) (January 12, 1882 -- September 30, 1951) was a Russian pianist, composer and teacher.
Born Yelena Kamentseva, she was adopted by her mother’s sister after the death of her mother. In gratitude, she took her adoptive mother’s name, Shcherbina. At the age of six she started studying with Nikolai Zverev, whose preparatory classes had been attended by such luminaries as Scriabin and Rachmaninov. She subse
