Rare vintage Philips EL3583/15 portable cartridge recorder. Must see this!

Very rare machine, was a precursor to the cassette format. This machine was made for dictation recording. There was also a transcription machine made that had a microphone that controlled the machine’s operations and a foot switch. The tape is 1/8 inch thick and runs at 1 7/8 IPS, the same size and speed tape used in a standard cassette. The unit has 2 cartridges, and threads like a reel-to-reel. And like many vintage Philips/Norelco machines, it had deteriorated belts that needed cleaning off and replacing
