La’Mule - Knife 「ナイフ」

Knife by La’mule. One of their best songs ever released. La’Mule was a KoteKei band from Shikoku formed in 1996. While they didn’t entirely invent horror VisualKei, they refined it into what we think of it today. Their sound was pretty typical of 90’s VisualKei, as their popularity wasn’t in how much of a trend-setter they were, but of how well they executed the then-current trends. That isn’t to say though they weren’t divergent from the rest of Vkei in some form. The focus on Japanesque horror around the “Curse“ era is a definite divergence from the European aesthetics most VisualKei bands took. To some, La’Mule is just another generic KoteKei band, no different from their contemporaries. To others, La’Mule was one of the best of all time VisualKei bands. However, their influence and definite prominence on the Soleil label is generally agreed upon.
