333 Year old Häfla Hammermill comes to life after a decade
(Finspang, Sweden) - In 1682 Häfla Hammerforge was founded on the Häfla Stream in Finspang, Sweden. The factory began making iron in 1683 churning out 45 tons yearly. In 1792, the level was increaased to 90 tons yearly. In 1846 Häfla works received unrestricted manufacturing rights. During the years 1861 - 1900 the works ran a rolling-mill at the Middle works. All activites at Häfla ceased in 1924. Swedish Technical Museum declared the Hammer Forge a historical monument. In 1990 Häfla Hammer forge was declared a national memorial.
During the last few years, enthusiasts have slowly restored the hammer. This 333 year old Hammermill was brought back to life on Wednesday. Iron was forge for the first time in over a decade. The video below shows the 1543 pound h
