After creating the first Naturae video, I felt like there were still many more nature related scenes and ideas I wanted to experiment with in 3D. In this version, I wanted it to have an even greater sense of momentum that carries the viewer through the visual journey. I also wanted to lean in more to the abstract and almost psychedelic way that nature exists and grows. Flank Audio created the music and sound design that really elevates the piece and makes it feel like a motion narrative and not just a series of experiments. As always, I love using these personal projects as a way to try new things and learn new software and techniques. One of the 3D artists I really look up to in the field, ’Twisted Poly,’ has been releasing some beautiful nature related work that has really inspired me as well as some breakdowns of how he achieved those effects. I used this video as a method to test out a few of the techniques I’ve learned from him as well as create my own unique effects and advance my Houdini learnings. The nature theme seems to be an unending source of CG inspiration for me, I’m sure there will be more to come in the future.
