Many consider “Ballad for a Woman“ by Tirza Atar to be her last poem, due to the lines, “Even the books in the closed and sad room / Already knew she’s not alright / She’s leaving forever“…“But despite it all, it’s all over.“
Tirza Atar translated many theatrical works, and her last poem was written for the play Dead Fish (“Four Women“ in the Hebrew translation) by Pam Gems. On October 7, 1977, the day the song was recorded, Tirza Atar fell to her death from the window of her sixth-floor apartment in Tel Aviv.
