’Pied Piper’s Voyage’ by Lebohang Kganye, Auntie Flo and Esa Williams

To celebrate Mandela Day on July 18th, The Space and Connect ZA have co-commissioned three new moving image artworks from six emerging, South African and British visual artists, animators and musicians, called ’Mandela Day Shorts.’ This co-commission brings together a British and South African creative, one specialising in visual art or animation and one in music, to create an artwork between 90 seconds and 3 minutes in length. ’Pied Piper’s Voyage’ is a collaboration between visual artist Lebohang Kganye and musicians Auntie Flo (UK) and Esa Williams (South Africa/UK). In this instance, Auntie Flo and Esa Williams decided to work together on the sound component of the artwork. Two additional works have been commissioned from Kent Andreasen (South Africa), Konx-om-Pax (UK) and Spoek Mathambo (South Africa). Launched on the occasion of Mandela Day, the project aims to promote emerging creative talent and inspire cross-pollination between different art forms and culture
