I initially developed a method using front post sts, which was a definite improvement in my opinion (see my Easy Envelope Border video ), but it can be a little bulky for some finer projects.
And then, while laying awake in the middle of the night, I had a bit of a ’lightbulb’ moment!
With just a simple adjustment to the way you work your edge stitches (adding a chain between the edge stitch and the design) you can quickly and easily pick up the stitches for your border without the need for a round of slip stitches, and without the extra bulk from front post sts!
