Native Fish: Adelaide River headwaters, NT.

The freshwater rivers and creeks of the Northern Territory’s Top End are home to a wide variety of different fishes. This video – shot in the headwaters of the Adelaide River – shows a few of the more common species that were encountered in a shallow roadside culvert in the middle of the Dry Season. Fish were congregating here to feed on any material washed over the shallow culvert. The freshwater fish you can see in this video include the following: Splendid Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia splendida inornata)
