Rigging a Character in 3ds Max - Introduction

In this 3ds Max multi-part series, you learn how to rig a character using a simple bone setup. Although 3ds Max has automated skeleton tools such as Biped or CAT, you can have more control over a skeleton by building it manually with 3ds Max bones. This series is made of three main parts: First, you will learn how to build the bone skeleton. You will then learn how to skin the character’s geometry to that skeleton. Finally, you will learn how to rig the skeleton. This brief introductory tutorial explains the series and gives you a breakdown of what you will learn and the tasks that await you. Special thanks go to Tigran Akopian for sharing his expertise on skinning and rigging, and to Luis Alonso and Christopher Diggins for their contribution to the MaxScript files needed for this tutorial series. Level: Advanced Recorded in: 3ds Max 2013 Files used: This tutorial is intended for use with 3ds Max version 2013 or higher. ► For additional learning content visit AREA by Autodesk | ► Visit AREA by Autodesk to find answers to your questions on our forums, showcase your work in the gallery, read blogs written by the creators of 3ds Max, and find more learning content. |
