Simulation of Bridge Column Under Seismic Loads

Validation analysis using the finite element method and data from a previous, large-scale experimental test on a bridge column. The column was subjected to a sequence of ground motions up to the occurrence of severe damage due to rebar fracture. The analysis has been conducted with the commercial software LS-DYNA, developed by LSTC. Novel material models have been developed and integrated in LS-DYNA to accurately capture the damage in concrete and the rupture of the reinforcing steel.
