After discarding various ideas we remembered a font made with water balloons in “The 3D Type Book“ by flat33 and we though it would be cool to take that idea and make it in motion. “Now, what does that have to do with love or Valentine’s day? Not much, until we found John Michalak’s text ’Of love and fluids’ which will likely either A) gross you out beyond measure, or B) give you a nice dose of transcendent inspiration. Perhaps it will do both. “From there we knew what we were of. We’re not sure if this is an animated experimental piece or a promo for our font Liquid_o. “One major challenge was to somehow control the exploding balloons: how to hold them; where to pinch them and how much pressure; how much paint/water do we need to fill them. “First we tried water and it was nice, but tough to crop when compositing to create the font, so we tried paint and it worked better but it was a mess, (we ended covering the studio and ourselves in plastic, in a Dexter kind of fashion).“ Schedule: three weeks.
