Metallica – Leper Messiah in Helsinki, June 2024

Love that customised white Electra Flying Vee (or “Wedge” as it was called, presumably to avoid being sued by Gibson) up close. This was a stomping performance of Leper Messiah in Helsinki on the 7th June. The song was first performed live on August 20, 1987, at The 100 Club in London. It was the warm-up show for the band’s Donington Monsters Of Rock festival appearance two day later (which was where I saw them for the first time). Famously, the 100 Club gig was so insanely hot — sweat was dripping off the ceiling back onto the crowd — that #JasonNewsted fainted on stage. #Metallica #MetallicaFamily #JamesHetfield #HeavyMetal
