Welcome to Our Neighborhood is the first video by Slipknot, being released on November 9, 1999 on VHS and later on DVD on November 18, 2003.
The video was directed by Thomas Mignone and features the band’s first videos: live performances of “Surfacing“ and “Wait and Bleed“, and the “banned from MTV“ video for “Spit It Out“. It also features additional concept images and footage from interviews with vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarist Mick Thomson and percussionist Shawn Crahan, for a total of 20 minutes of video. In the video, the band members themselves explain in the video that “[Welcome to Our Neighborhood] basically [is] nine people working on every poison that has ever affected them in their lives and putting it on tape.“ A DVD version was released on November 18, 2003, and features bonus material of the band performing “Scissors“, behind-the-scenes footage and home footage filmed by the band in their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. The seven-minute concert recording of the track “Scissors“ was filmed during the band’s performance at Ozzfest 1999, but has the studio version dubbed.
