Jean Philippe Rameau Nouvelles Suites de Pièces de Clavecin Sarabande (transcribed for theorbo by Elias Conrad) Audio & Video: Elias Conrad Luthier: Günter Mark Jean Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) is not only widely acclaimed as a theoretician of music, but also one of the most imaginative composers of his time. His revolutionary operas were the first national creations to rival those of Lully and his works and methods for harpsichord show his immens innovative power. One of those works is the calming ’Sarabande’ of the Suite in A from ’Nouvelles Suites de Pièces de Clavecin’, here presented in a transcribed version for theorbo by Elias Conrad. This piece also appears in his opera ’Zoroastre’.
