Russia-Ukraine conflict: A peace deal in sight?

For more: Nearly two years on from the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, there’s more and more talk of a possible peace deal following the failure of a counteroffensive operation by Ukraine in the summer. Meanwhile, Western support for Kyiv seems less solid than before and war fatigue is evident. So what is the latest situation on the ground? Could a peace deal be close at hand? And after 21 months of fighting, what is the most likely outcome of the conflict?
