Wraithlord - A Dance in the Ghostlight (full album, 2022)

Another excellent new album of melodic atmospheric black metal from Michigan’s Wraithlord – with a sound enhanced with drumming and piano from the mighty Nlorgpipe! For this project, Nlorgpipe keeps the rhythms locked down and deadly old-school style, compared to his own more off-kilter, alt-black metal, though the combination of these two artists here, as with previous Wraithlord albums, incorporates many heightened details and progressive elements in the samples, sound effects, pianos, acoustic passages, deviations of melodies and textures of sound, that make it all the more interesting, far beyond any expectations you may have of it. As with the previous Obscurity album of sinister black metal, and the Earth and Stone dark ambient release, there is an uncommonly inspired supernatural talent at work here, perfectly illustrated through the album artwork, which uses Dancing Fairies by August Malmstrom.
