Mestre Bandeira - Master of Capoeira

INBI World Academy of Capoeira presents Mestre Bandeira ASCAB Capoeira (Associao Santista de Capoeira Areia Branca, or American Society of Capoeira and Arts from Brazil) was officially registered by a Capoeirista called Marinheiro (Erivaldo Barbosa) on June 5, 1965. Prior to 1965, the group was called Grupo Santista Areia Branca. He and his brother, Mestre Bandeira (Luis Santos Barbosa) were trained by the first Mestre in Santos, Brazil, Mestre Corisco (Jose Lairto dos Santos), who learned from Jose de Andrade. Mestre Bandeira in turn taught the current Mestre of ASCAB in the US, Mestre Doutor (Adenilson Jose dos Santos). Doutor brought ASCAB to the US October 6, 1997, and has taught classes in New York and Philadelphia, as well as done workshops and performances around the country.
