What was Medieval Wales really like?

Viking age and Medieval Wales wasn’t just a backwater next to Anglo-Saxon England (which didn’t really exist for part of the early medieval period anyway) with no sexy archaeology or finds to look at. The real Medieval Wales was a highly developed society like any other, full of kings, queens and princes, poetry and music, golden treasures, violent medieval battles, and artistic traditions dating back beyond the Romans.
