There are some great documentaries about James Brown that have come out lately. I have become a huge fan. I have a ton of good old 45 rpm #records with his picture stamped on them. And I’ve got a whole bunch of very old 33rpmrecords of his. “I’m Black and I’m proud“ is the one that I do not have but it feels a little bit lousy as a white man to get and collect that particular album! Nevertheless, I find James Brown to be a fascinating pop culture phenomenon, ever since I saw Eddie Murphy do his parody of James Brown getting in the hot tub for Saturday Night live (look it up!) in the funk #soul #funkmusic realm. Very creative showmanship, was very stingy with his money, but did a good job of promoting himself and his band so that all could thrive.
