Super Sharp Shadows | Take and Make Great Photography with Gavin Hoey

The terms “soft light” and “hard light” are often used in photography but in reality, it’s not the light that’s soft or hard but the sharpness of the shadows. When it comes to portrait photography soft shadows are normally preferred and for good reason but if you want to get a little more creative, hard light portraits are a great option. So photographer Gavin Hoey takes on the challenge of creating the sharpest shadows possible in his small home studio. Using ever smaller light modifiers, Gavin settles on the snoot as his lighting modifier of choice. He then experiments with a random selection of household objects to create some stunning and super sharp shadow portraits.
