Battleship Texas Part 2 (8-31-2022)

Battleship Texas is being moved to dry dock in Galveston, Texas on August 31, 2022. She will be in the dry dock for up to two years and then will be moved to a new home that has not been chosen. Texas was the first US battleship to become a permanent museum ship, the first battleship declared to be a US National Historic Landmark, and is the only remaining World War I era dreadnought battleship. She is also one of the eight remaining ships and the only remaining capital ship to have served in both World Wars. She was the first US ship to launch an airplane, the first to have radar, the first ship to have anti-aircraft guns, and the first to have a fire control system to help put her 14-inch guns on target. She was launched on 18 May 1912 and commissioned on 12 March 1914.
